Peridot is an ancient and yet currently very popular gemstone. Its green color with slight golden hue comes from iron. Peridot is found in Pakistan, Myanmar, China, USA, Africa and Australia. Peridot in smaller carat weights is common and affordable, and you can find it in regular jewelry stores. It has hardness of 6.5 to 7 in Mohs’ scale, great for every day wear. Peridot can be cleaned in gentle soapy water and with a soft toothbrush. Do not use home ultrasonic cleaner. Also avoid drastic temperature changes.
