Women wear high-heeled and unnaturally shaped shoes for many reasons. For most of us, it boils down to one simple factor: the desire to create an illusion. The heels help us to appear taller, which in turn helps us to appear slimmer, which in turn makes us feel more confident, which in turn attracts the opposite sex. Or, in mathematical terms: women + high heels = men. Professional, working women will say they like to wear heels because it makes them feel more powerful. But the simple truth of it is that the moment we put on a pair of high-heeled shoes, we become more vulnerable. It’s harder for us to balance and walk, and let’s not even get started on running.
