| You Always Have Two Choices |
|
As the Dalai Lama once said, "Never worry about the problems that you can solve; and it's useless to worry about the unsolvable ones." The main character of the story was a young man, whose age met the millitary service's requirement. To make the whole thing worse, he was assigned to the Marine, the toughest arms of service. He young man was so distressed as all of his happiness had been deprived. Then his sagacious grandfather told him:"Ok, my son, there's two choice in the marine, one is the inside job, and the other's the outside. If you are going to work inside, then no danger."
The young man raise his head and look into his grandfather's eyes:" Then what would happen if they ask me to word outside?" "Well, still two posibilities," the grandfather smiled, "you may remain on the island, or be send to other places. See, if you stay here, everything's ok. "But maybe I'll be sent to the battlefront!" "Oh, my sun, even you're on the battlefront, you may stay at the home front, your chance of being at the front line is only 50%, and to work at the home front is not that hard." "But the front line is rearlly horrible...." "Remember, the chances are always haff-half. You may retire from the marine safe and sound, if you won't encounter any accident. How exciting if you come back alive!" "To me that means I may be injured during the war." "Well, it all depends. If just some minor injuries, you can be sent back! Then everything's end. On the other hand, you may die." When the grandfather said "die", the young man began to temble. If in the worst case......" The grandfather cut him off by loud laugh:" If you've died, is there anything to worry? It should be my turn to take over all the pain!" You see, what you have in your life is constant choices. What would happen in the future depends on your decision of these choices. Remember, if there's always two kinds of possibilities even in the worst situation, and your deepest horror will disappear if you can realize your two choices. |
